My name is Richard Barman , I am a 21 year old street and travel photographer from Assam, India. Most of my works are abstract, surrealist, high contrast; depicting the realities and diversities of Human life.

I got my first camera when I was 16 years old, a Nikon. I used to take pictures of landscapes, musical concerts as a part of my practice schedule. After completing 12th, I went to delhi college of photography for a diploma in photography and filmmaking. While doing my study in DCOP, I started developing an interest towards street photography.

Travelling and shooting on the streets gives you a purpose like no other. The privilege of being able to interact with people gives you utmost joy as well as grief as you have to show the life without compromising with your vision. Some of the people I see I will never see again – mere fleeting moments of photographic compositions.
I choose photography as a way to suppress my artistic hunger and to show true, ugly and beautiful side of the society.

Magnum artists like Sebastião Salgado , alan schaller , boogie , bruce gilden , kevin carter, Henri Cartier-Bresson, have inspired me to developed my own style. I am inspired to follow a similar mantra, to be free within my photography.
